2027 JUNE 1st - JUNE 15th

[6.1.27] Lobos 5, Mets 3 (12 innings) – Fisher pitches well for nine innings, but Monje (1-2) allows two in the top of the 12th. Smith (18) tied the game in the 6th with a 2-run shot.

Mochihito Jouon, the London Kings second baseman hits three home runs in a game. It was a little odd for him to do this as he had never even hit more than one home run in a game. He would end up with just 6 home runs for the entire season.

[6.3.27] – Astros 10, Mets 8 – The bullpen fails again and the Mets waste three home runs, Scalfaro (13), Smith (19), Finley (10). Smith and Scalfaro each drive in three.

[6.4.27] – Astros 6, Mets 2 – Gardner (6-6) finds the middle of the plate too much and is knocked out in the fourth. Scalfaro (14) hits another home run and his average climbs to 292.

Bill Rowell, the 38yo Seoul Empire third baseman gets his 2500th hit, the 2-time All-Star has won 6 GG and a WS ring with the Dodgers in 2021. He has 632 doubles at seasons end, good for 16th all time.
if you drop it, do they take it from you?

Like the MVP awards, Gold Gloves are given out strictly on who's got the best defensive stats. Winning 6 GG in the sim is Ozzie Smith level defense, he is one of only two guys with six in the sim.

[6.5.27] – Astros 8, Mets 4 – Williamson (6-3) 4.2ip 10h 6r 5er 1bb 4k 1hr leaves in the fourth as the Mets are down 6-2. Scalfaro (15) hits his 7th home run in the past 8 games.
The Mets (34-29) fall 4 back of the tied Braves and Phillies. They are 13-20 on the road and 21-9 at home.

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Mike Cooper hits 3 home runs in a game for the second time in two weeks. This time his victim is the Cincinnati Reds in a 11-1 win. Ex-Met Jeff Hansen also hits a pair of home runs. They each drive in four runs.

Houston Astros third baseman Kijuro Sanu, 32yo Japanese import drives in his 1000th career run. Earlier this season he collected his 300th home run and 1500th hit.

[6.6.27] – Mets 9, Brewers 3 – Fulton (6-2) strikes out 8 in eight innings and Rushton pitches the ninth to end the losing streak. Smith (20,21) hits a pair and scores 4 times. Finley (11) also hit one and Short gets three more hits.

[6.7.27] – Brewers 12, Mets 4 – The Mets lose Dyer to the DL for about 2 months with a strained rotator cuff. Fisher (2-6) 6.2ip 7h 5er 3bb 9k 1hr comes within a pitch of getting out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth, but ends up allowing three runs. The bullpen gets lit up again.
The Mets recall Spence to fill the spot Dyer opened up. Fisher will be replaced by Valdes next time around in the rotation according to Benes.

Scalfaro wins Player of the Week hitting 476 with 5hr 7rbi 6r over the last week. It is only the 4th time he's won Player of the Week despite being a 9-time All-Star and 2-time MVP winner.

The Vancouver A's defeat the Tokyo Bears 6-5 in 18 innings. The A's finally break through in the 18th with the winning run scoring on a bases loaded fielders choice. Bears reliever Pedro Paredes throws 7 scoreless innings (11-17th) allowing 4 hits and striking out 3.

[6.8.27] – Mets 8, Brewers 0 – Marquez (6-2) allows four hits in five innings, striking out seven, but is lifted with back spasms and will be out about a month. The Mets call up Isamu Okazaki and have to put Fisher back in the rotation after he just lost his job to Valdes. This time the bullpen holds and three relievers strike out seven in four innings. Finley (12) hits a 2-run shot and drives in three.
The Mets are 36-30 and are four games behind the Braves and Phillies who are tied again.

The Seattle Mariners defeat the Dominican Republic Stars 22-3. It was 4-2 in the top of the 7th when the Mariners scored 14 runs in the inning, they hit 5 doubles (two by catcher Luis Noroa) and a home run. DH Jorge Valenzuela batted three times in the inning, walking once and making the 1st & 3rd out.

[6.9.27] – Mets 9, Dodgers 1 – Gardner (7-6) 9ip 8h 1er 3bb 10k 1hr gets complete game six on the season. Smith (22,23) and Scalfaro (16) go back-to-back for the first time on the season in the first inning. Smith takes over the lead in the NL in average, rbis and home runs all in the same game, as he drives in 6 with a pair of 3-run homers.
dumb british fans don't know some of those
should be backwards, effin' wankers
Scalfaro accounts for the other three rbis with a pair of doubles in addition to his home run. Dodger superstar Luis Deleon goes 0-3 and falls behind Smith in homers and rbis, he had been leading the league in both categories until today's game.

London Kings starter Sean McKenzie strikes out 15. It's his first career 15k game.

[6.10.27] – Mets 9, Dodgers 7 (13 innings) – Each team scores twice in the first and after a 2-run Scalfaro double in the 5th and a solo shot by Gonzalez (2) in the 6th and the Mets are up 6-2. The Dodgers slowly chip away, scoring a single run in the final four innings as Rushton blows his 4th save of the season.
Both bullpens keep things quiet until Hayes drives in a pair with a triple off a 42yo Clay Buchholz (2-1) took the loss. Alvarez (2-1) 2.1ip 3h 1er 3k got the win and LeBlanc (1) got his first save of the season. Scalfaro 6 1 3 4 raised his average to 300 for the first time this season.

Yes, that Clay Buchholz. He is one of the few real players left around. David Wright, the ex-Met is also still active. Wright will be a HOFer, 3200+ hits, 650+ doubles, 400+ home runs. He also has an MVP award back in 2008, the first year of the sim while still with the Mets.
In 2009 when I had to make the choice of either Reyes or Wright, I kept Reyes. I figured that the hamstring issues wouldn't translate into 1s and 0s and Wright had a career year in 2008 and wasn't going to replicate it.
Reyes is the Mets all-time franchise leader in most categories as I kept him in a Mets uniform until 2019, the year he retired.

[6.11.27] – Mets 9, Dodgers 7 – There were three lead changes, two ties, five errors, but only one unearned run. The Dodgers have 8 extra base hits and the Mets have five. LeBlanc (3-1) pitches an inning for the win and Rushton (16) gets the save. Every Mets starter has a hit and all but Pruitt scores a run.
The Mets sweep a series on the road for the second time of the season and are 39-30, three games behind Braves and two behind the Phillies.

[6.12.27] – Reds 3, Mets 1 – Fisher (2-7) 7ip 5h 3er 5bb 4k 2hr pitches well, but gets no support, half their hits come from Rea -who gets the start when Scalfaro sits- he also drives in the Mets only run.

Miguel Rea is another in the line of backup catchers I've had since Scalfaro became the Mets starter. They generally play 20 games or so as Scalfaro sits on a regular basis, never playing more than 145 games in a season.
These back ups are always good to very good defensively, never good offensively to be a starter and happy to be the back up. They also seem to get big hits when they do play.

[6.13.27] – Mets 4, Reds 2 – Fulton (7-2) 8ip 4h 2er 5bb 6k 1hr pitches well enough and Scalfaro (17) and Finley (13) each homer and Hayes steals his 14th base of the season. Rushton (17) gets the save.

[6.14.27] – Mets 4, Reds 1 – Gardner (8-6) strikes out 12 in 8 innings and Rushton (18) gets the save. Gonzalez (3) delivers the big blow with a 3-run homer in the second. Gardner takes over the league lead in era 2.84 and is third in strikeouts with 113.
The Mets are 41-31, a game behind the Phillies and two behind the Braves.

Venezuela Lobos starter Armando Rosas strikes outs 16 in 8.1 innings

Pittsburgh Pirates starter Pepe Astorias strikes out 15 in 8 innings.

2027 MAY 17th - MAY 30th

[5.17.27] Cardinals 9, Mets 0 – Gabriel Morales (1-7) crafts a gem, allowing five hits (all singles) and Valdes (1-3) 5.1ip 7h 7r 4er 5bb 3k gets beat up again. Anibal Gonzalez comes off the DL and goes 0-4 from the 8-spot, Kato was demoted.

Ricardo Gonzales, 26-yo Mexican centerfielder for the London Kings hits for the cycle.

[5.18.27] Mets 4, Cardinals 1 – Marquez (5-0) returns the favor against the Cardinals, 8ip 4h 1er 8k and Rushton (14) pitches the ninth for the save. Marquez hits his third double of the season to drive two and Scalfaro (7) hits a 2-run shot in the second.

[5.19.27] Mets 5, Cardinals 0 – Gardner (4-5) 9ip 7h 4bb 6k throws his second complete game shutout of the season and Scalfaro (8) hits a 2-run homer in the first to give the Mets a 3-0 lead. Smith (15) would hit one in the fifth.
The remained three behind the Phillies, tied with the Braves.

[5.20.27] Montes Scalfaro signed a 3-year extension for $58.78 million that will keep him in a Mets uniform until his 39th birthday.

I'm pretty much going to pay him whatever he wants to stay in a Mets uniform until he retires. He is my George Brett, my Tony Gwynn, my Cal Ripken. He has been the franchise player the Mets deserve.
When he finally does retire, it's going to be a different team. These kind of guys don't grow on trees. I know I have the best player in the game on my team (Ralph Smith), but I signed him as a free agent from the Cubs in 2024, so he'll never be a true franchise player. He was better as a Cub, winning the Triple Crown twice in a Cubs uniform, but he got his WS ring in NY (2024) and will hit major milestones in a Mets uniform.

[5.21.27] Cubs 2, Mets 0 – A good start is wasted. Williamson (4-2) 8ip 5h 2er 2bb 6k, he takes the loss in a complete game. Ju-long Hsieh (5-5) threw 2-hit ball for 8 innings, striking out eight and the Mets could do nothing against the Cubs pitcher.

[5.22.27] Cubs 4, Mets 3 – Fisher (2-4) gets the start and throws a complete game, but did not get enough offense. All three runs came on a Smith (16) home run. The Mets demote Spence to the minors to make room for outfielder Hayes back on the bench. He wasn't pitching bad, its just he was the only one with options.

[5.23.27] Cubs 8, Mets 6 – Marquez (5-1) 5ip 9h 4er 0bb 1k 2hr loses the first game of his career and the Mets get only one extra base hits (and 12 singles). Scalfaro and Gomez each get three hits. Dickerson strains a rib cage muscle and will be out four weeks, this is second centerfielder the Mets lose to the DL. Kato is brought back from New Orleans.
The Mets fall four games behind the Phillies and two games behind the Braves.

[5.24.27] Mets 13, Giants 3 – Gardner (5-5) 9ip 10h 3er 4bb 8k throws another complete game and the offense explodes for seven runs in the fifth. After opening the inning with two singles and two walks, the Mets hit for the cycle. A Scalfaro double drives home two, Finley (6) hits a three run shot, Short singles, Gonzalez triples and they go up 11-3. Hayes (2) put the Mets up 2-0 in the third.

Mike Cooper, the Milwaukee second baseman, hit three home runs in a game. The former Rookie Supreme (2024) and NL HR Champ of 2025 (48) collects his second 3-home run game in less than a year.

The Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 23-5. They score in every inning but the 7th and pound out 13 extra base hits. The top two hitters in the order [Carlos Hernandez and Jesus Molina, the 2023 AL MVP] each have two home runs and drive in six a piece. For each of them, its their first home runs of the season.

[5.25.27] Mets 3, Giants 0 – Fulton (5-2) strikes out 11 in seven innings and allows just two hits. Three relievers pitch the final two innings striking out every batter. Rushton (15) gets the final three strikeouts and the save. The Giants strike out 17 times. Finley (7) tacks on the final run in the 8th with a solo shot.

After allowing 20 runs the game before, the Orioles return the favor and defeat the Texas Rangers 21-7. Down 3-0 in the second the Orioles score 15 in the next three innings. Paul Simpson, the 40yo, goes 4-for-4 with five runs scored, four rbis and hits a pair of home runs. The two time All-Star (2020,21) he started his career at shortstop and played there until 2021 (1107 games), since then he's split time between first and second. Winning a GG in 2023 at first base. A borderline HOFer at best. He's got no Top 10 mvp votes.

Paul Simpson compares to Gary Gaetti, whom I met once in Cary
The reason I list how many times he was an All Star or Gold Glove or how many top 10 MVP finishes a player has is to give you an idea of how good a player he is.
The sim has no favorites, there's no fan voting, so All-Star games are based completely who has the best stats. Same as the MVP voting. One All Star game could be a fluke, multiple appearances means they're a good player, five or more and he's a potential HOFer.

[5.26.27] Mets 11, Giants 4 – Williamson (5-2) 7.1ip 8h 4er 5bb 5k, the Mets bats go crazy again, Short has four hits, four other Mets get two hits each. Finley (8) drives in three as the Mets complete the sweep.
The Mets (33-22) climb back into a tie with the Braves, but are still three games behind the Phillies and they travel to Philadelphia for three games. The Phillies are looking to get some revenge from being swept earlier in the season.

Luis Torrez, 31- year old Houston Astros pitcher strikes out 16 Brewers. It is his third 15+ strikeout game in the past calendar year. In six seasons he is averaging a strikeout/inning.

[5.27.27] Phillies 12, Mets 4 – Fisher (2-5) 4ip 8h 5er 4k 1hr gets hammered as do three other relievers for eight extra base hits. Scalfaro (9) also doubles.

[5.28.27] Phillies 12, Mets 1 – Marquez (5-2) 2.2ip 7h 6er 1bb 4k 1hr doesn't make it out of the 3rd as the Phillies put up seven in that inning. Sheppard allows four runs in an inning for the second straight game and the Phillies get five more extra base hits. The road woes continues as they drop to 12-17 on the road.

[5.29.27] Mets 12, Phillies 3 – The Mets get a little revenge as Gardner (6-5) strikes out 12 in 7.2 innings. Scalfaro (10) and Finley (9) go back-to-back in the 4th as the Mets go up 8-1. Hayes gets his fourth hit of the day (and second double) to drive in the final two in the 7th and the Mets get a season high 19 hits.
The Mets 33-24 close the gap behind the Phillies back to 4 and are two behind the Braves.

[5.30.27] Lobos 3, Mets 2 – Fulton pitches a gem 8ip 2h 1er 3bb 9k, but Rushton blows his third save of the season. The Mets only get five hits of their own, including two more extra bases from Scalfaro (11) who raised his average to 277.

Robby 'Riverboat' Holt, 32yo Tampa Rays catcher drove in run 1000 for his career. 3-time All Star (2019, 20, 23).

Zack Greinke, 20th member of the 3000k club
The San Diego Padres defeat the Washington Nationals 4-2 in 20 innings. Each team only gets a runner as far as third once until Dorian Boyer, 27yo first baseman hits a 2-run shot in the top of the 20th off Antonio Vazquez.

[5.31.27] Mets 7, Lobos 1 – Williamson (6-2) turns back time allowing just 3 hits while striking out 12 in a complete game. Smith (17) drove in three and Scalfaro (12) hits a home run in his third straight games.
Javier Vazquez,
19th member of the 3000k club
In the top of the 8th Williamson struck out Kevin Leighton for his 3000th career strikeout, he becomes the 23rd member of the 3000 strikeout club. He is the 7th pitcher to hit 3000 career strikeouts since the sim era started.
The other seven are John Smoltz (2008), Mike Mussina (2010), Javier Vazquez (2015), Zack Greinke (2021), Dave Gilmore (2026), Diego Franco (2026).
Some of the names are familiar, but only Smoltz hit 3000 irl. Mussina retired in 2008, Vazquez in 2011 without getting to 3000. Greinke just passed 1700 irl and is six 200-strikeout seasons from 3000, so he's actually on track.

The other three guys Gilmore, Franco and Williamson have been among the best pitchers in the sim era and at least two of them are Hall of Famers

2027 MAY 1st - MAY 16th

[5.1.27] – Mets 5, Suns 4 – Fulton (4-1) 8ip 3h 3er 6bb 4k, gets three double plays and Hayes (1) hits a pinch hit 2-run homer in the 8th to give the Mets a 4-3 lead. They would add a very important fifth run as Dyer (1) makes things interesting in the 9th for his first save after whining to the press about having 'closer stuff', despite not being able to prove it when given the chance. Scalfaro has two hits and Pruitt (5) hits another.

[5.2.27] – Mets 3, Suns 2 – Marquez (3-0) 7ip 2er 4bb 5k actually scored the go ahead run in the fifth as he scored on a single. Rushton (11) struck out 2 for the save. The winning streak reaches 7 games.

[5.3.27] – Suns 5, Mets 4 (10 innings) – Gardner (2-4) 9ip 10h 5r 4er 4bb 8k 2hr, pitches into the 10th, but allows Jaime 'Funky' Rocha to hit a lead off home run. The Mets can do nothing in the bottom of the inning, losing their first extra inning game of the season and ending the streak at seven games. They remain two behind the Braves and Phillies, still tied for first. The Mets are 19-14.

[5.4.27] – Mets 11, Samba 9 – The Mets first trip to Sao Paulo results in a crazy game. The Mets blew leads of 3-1 and 6-3 and came back from 8-7 and 9-8 deficits. The Mets got only 9 hits, but six were for extra bases, including five home runs, Scalfaro (4), Smith (11), Caraballo (7), Finley (4,5). They also received 12 walks. It was the Scalfaro homer in the 8th, a 2-run shot that turned the 9-8 deficit into a 10-9 lead, that decided the game. He also hit a double and walked three times, raising his average to 222.
Williamson didn't make it to the 5th inning and Alvarez (1-1) got the win despite allowing a run in his only inning. Dyer put two men on in the 9th before getting the last two outs for his second save.

[5.5.27] – Mets 7, Samba 4 – Valdes (1-2) pitches into the 9th, then it takes three relievers to close the door, Rushton (12) striking out the only man he faces. Valdes also becomes the first Mets pitcher ever to have two hits in one inning, when the Mets bat around in the 6th scoring six times.
Pruitt and Scalfaro had three hits each, the latter raising his average to 239. Benes seems in no rush to move Scalfaro out of the 7-hole just yet, especially since the first six guys in the lineup are all over 300.

[5.6.27] – Samba 2, Mets 0 – The Mets are stymied by Jim Kelley (1-6) who throws eight scoreless innings. The Mets strand 14 runners and have base runners in every frame, they leave two men on in the 6th and 9th and the bases loaded in the 7th. Fulton (4-2) takes the loss despite allowing two unearned runs.
The loss snaps the 6-game road winning streak the Mets had, they are now 8-10 on the road and 21-15 over all, still two games behind the Phillies and Braves who are still tied atop the NL East.

Mets manager, Alan Benes
The less famous of the forgotten Benes Brothers
[5.8.27] – Mets 5, Kings 3 – Marquez strikes out 15 in 8.1ip, but isn't around for the decision when the Mets win with a walkoff. Gomez (1) hits a 2-run home run off Kings closer Ray 'Burrhead' Fry to give the Mets their first walkoff win of the season. Marquez gets 13 of the 15 outs between the 2nd & 6th inning on the strikeout. Scalfaro (5) collects three more hits including a home run, raising his average to 258. LeBlanc (2-0) got the last two outs of the top of the ninth for the win.

For the next game Benes has changed the lineup again, moving Scalfaro back up in the order
cf-Brooks R
ss-Pruitt L
3b-Caraballo R
1b-Smith S
c-Scalfaro S
rl-Finley L
2b-Short R
lf-Gomez L

[5.9.27] – Kings 3, Mets 2 – Gardner (2-5) throws his third complete game of the season, striking out 12, but takes the loss. Brooks fractures his cheekbone when he runs into the wall tracking down a long fly in the fourth inning. He is out for 3 months.

Gordon 'Parisian Bob' Tofield, 25-year old St Louis Cardinals pitcher strikes out out 15 in 9 innings. He's not around for the decision, but the Cards win on a walk off double in the 12th for a 6-5 win. Each team scored 3 in the 11th inning. He is later traded in the season to the San Diego Padres.

[5.10.27] – The Mets re-sign closer Payton Rushton to a three year extension for $34.45 million. Part of the Mets bullpen since 2019, he spent four years as a set up man before becoming closer in 2023. He missed all of 2025 with an injury, but returned to be the closer in 2026. With 138 saves he is fifth on the Mets all-time list and leads the franchise with an era of 2.07 for a career over 500 innings.

[5.10.27] – The Mets trade pitching prospect Ken Muller to the Pirates for cf Bob 'Gypsy' Dickerson. Dickerson will step right in, bat lead off and play centerfield. The 24 year old Dickerson has plus range and a good arm. An outstanding base runner, he still strikeouts too much for a good lead off hitter.
Muller is 27yo and has made 71 starts in Triple A New Orleans over the past four seasons and has never been able to make the break through to the big leagues in New York.
It's a perfect trade, the Pirates need arms and the Mets needed any everyday cf now that Brooks will be out for three months, and that's what they got.

[5.10.27] – Kings 6, Mets 5 (11 innings) – Williamson 2.2ip 6h 5er 1bb 0k gets knocked around but the bullpen allows just 2 hits and 2 bb in final 8.1 innings with 11k. The bad news is that one of those hits was an 11th inning home run off Rushton (0-2) by Mattis Gareau (13).
In his return to his place in the batting order behind Smith, Scalfaro goes 0-3 with 2bb and 2k, including striking out in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run at second in the person of speedster Taizo Kato, who was brought up when Hayes went on the DL.
The Mets streak of winning series ends at seven and its the first series loss at home. The Mets are 22-17 and three games behind the Philles, who have finally separated themselves from the Braves, albeit by just a game.

[5.11.27] – Nationals 6, Mets 5 (10 innings) – The Mets hit six doubles, but Rushton blows his first save of the season by allowing two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Monje (1-1) takes the loss by allowing a walk-off home run to Antonio Gonzalez (5). The losing streak reaches three games.

[5.12.27] – Mets 11, Nationals 9 – The Mets score seven times in the first and have a 10-4 lead after four innings. The Nationals chip away and get it down to 11-9 and have the bases loaded with reigning NL MVP Steven Molyneuax (4 for 5 with a homer in the 8th)  at the plate. He is facing Monje, who is into close because Rushton has pitched the last two days. On an 0-1 slider he rips it past the mound, right to Pruitt who was playing two steps up the middle. He took it to second for the force to end the game. And what had been a very noisy, wet crowd went completely silent in a second.
Pruitt walked four times, the starter Valdes had a pair of doubles and is hitting 417 this season and Smith (12) connected in the 2nd to put the Mets up 9-2

[5.13.27] – Mets 7, Nationals 2 – Marquez (4-0) 9ip 6h 3er 1bb 7k 1hr, goes the distance to give the overworked bullpen some time off leading into a series with the Atlanta Braves. Pruitt (7) hits a home run, Dickerson has three hits and four rbi, Gomez has three hits and scores two runs.
The Mets are 24-18 and three games behind the Phillies in the NL East and two behind the Braves, who are their next opponent.

[5.14.27] – Mets 6, Braves 3 – Gardner (3-5) pitches into the ninth again and was one out away from another complete game when he allowed Gustuvo Gonzalez (8,9) to hit a solo home run, his second off the game. Rushton (13) threw three straight strikes to end the game.
The Mets had seven extra base hits including Caraballo (9), with a solo shot in the 6th. Dickerson had a pair of doubles and Pruitt had three more hits.

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeat the Washington Nationals 20-6. The Diamondbacks score 10 in the first and seven more in the second. Its 19-0 after three innings. They hit nine doubles, six in the first inning including two by catcher Pedro Medina.

[5.15.27] – Mets 6, Braves 5 (12 innings) – In a wildly exciting game, the Mets win their longest game of the year with a walk-off wild pitch. Williamson 8ip 5h 3er 2bb 4k 1hr, lost the win when Rushton blew his second save of the season by allowing the Braves to tie the game at 5.
The Mets led 5-1 heading into the top of the 8th. Williamson was on cruise control, allowing only two base runners after a second inning home run, but he allowed a lead off single in the 8th and followed it up with a wild pitch. A walk and two singles later it was 5-3 Mets. Rushton came on in the 9th for the save and in a five pitch sequence the game was tie (single, double, balk, sac fly). LeBlanc entered the game and allowed back-to-back singles and it was first and third with one out. He responded by striking out the next two guys.
After the Mets did nothing in the 9th, the Braves got three straight singles off LeBlanc and it was bases-loaded, no outs. Benes went to the pen and summoned Monje, who promptly struck out the side and New Ebbets went crazy when he got the third out. He stuck around for the 10th and struck out the side again.
No real threats until the bottom of the 12th when Gomez reached second on an error by the second baseman who kicked it down the line in right, allowing Gomez, who was hustling out of the box, to reach second. Palacios hit a ground ball behind the runner putting him at third with one out. The Braves walked Dickerson to put runners at the corner, which brought Pruitt to the plate. In the 10th Pruitt grounded into a double play with men on 1st and 2nd, the Braves were hoping for a similar outcome. This time he didn't even have to put it in play as Edgar Estanga threw an 0-2 pitch to the backstop allowing Gomez to score.
The Mets and the Braves are now tied in second at 26-18, three games behind the Phillies.
It also has two of the odder lines you'll see. Monje's is perfect Monje 2ip 6k, while LeBlanc .2ip 5h 0r is something you don't see everyday. Pitch less than an inning, allow 5 hits and NO runs? None of those hits drove in anyone either.

[5.16.27] – Mets 9, Braves 7 – Another walk off for the Mets, this one, a little more dramatic.
It doesn't start good for the Mets as Fulton 4.1ip 6h 7er 5bb 8k put the Mets in a 7-2 hole.
In the bottom of the 5th Scalfaro (6) hit a 2-run homer to close the gap to 7-4, but the Mets could get nothing going against the bullpen until the Braves brought in Vachik Khangulian, their closer. He didn't get an out, allowing three straight hits to load the bases, then hit Palacios with the first pitch of his at bat and it was now 7-5, bases loaded and Smith coming to the plate. He hit a  2-run home run in the first inning to give the Mets a brief lead at 2-1.
With the 55000+ plus crowd drowning out the planes going over head. Smith hit a 1-2 fastball into the third deck, he gave a little bat flip (something the Braves won't forget) and was mauled at home by his teammates.
Spence (3-0) 3ip 2h 1bb 1k picked up the win in relief. Smith was 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs (13,14) and 6 rbis. The sweep of the Braves, moved them ahead of Atlanta in the standings and they gained a game on the Phillies and are now two games back. The winning streak is five.

The Gotham Yankees defeat the Seattle Mariners 20-2. The Yankees score five in the first and its get worse from there for the Mariners. Its 18-0 in the top of the sixth when the first Mariner reaches second base. They were held down by 36yo Tom Brown (6-1), who's been a Yankee since 2017. He became closer in 2018 and kept that job until 2022. After 165 saves in five season he made the transition to the starting rotation and has won 53 games as a starter in four seasons and is off to a great start this season.
The Yankees get 18 hits, but only three are for extra bases. Lee King (12) leads the way 4-for-5 and started everything with a first inning 3-run homer.
The soon to be 37yo (next week) is a 7-time All Star (4 NL, 3 AL) and is oft injured. Over his first 12 seasons he's missed an average of a month/season. He will go down in July with another injury, this time a torn groin muscle that will have him out until next August.

Lee King - Lifetime stats

The Monterrey Suns defeat the Sao Paulo Samba 21-4. They bat around in consecutive innings (5th and 6th) turning a 6-4 game into a 18-4 game. Second baseman Chris Kunkel (4) goes 4-for-6 with 6rbis from the leadoff spot, he hits 2 doubles, a home run and steals a base. The 26yo is oldest of the four rising stars on this Suns team.

Bob Edwards, 25 yo Cleveland Indian outfielder hits for the cycle. It is his only triple of the year.

2027 APRIL 15th - APRIL 30th

[4.15.27] – Mets 7, Dodgers 6 – The Mets come back from three deficits and the new lineup pounds out 14 hits, half of them for extra bases. Caraballo hits his team high fifth home run. LeBlanc (1-1) picks up the win as the starter (Fulton) didn't get into the fourth.
The bad news is that Gonzalez will be lost for 5 weeks. He sprained his Achilles and will miss some time. Hayes will get first shot at winning the job. This also allows the Mets to add an arm to the pen to help out with a ton of the innings the pen has already thrown.
Antonio Monje, the New Orleans closer is brought up and Valdes is put in the rotation and Marquez goes to the pen.

Danny Baker, of the San Fransisco Giants, throws a no-hitter against the London Kings. He faces the minimum, picking off the only man he would walk to end the second inning. It is the 33yo rhsp first no-hitter. The win gave him a career record of 100-107 with all 10 seasons coming in a Giants uniform.
He strikeouts five and walks one. He has been a SF Giants starter for 10 seasons. His best season came in 2020 when he finished 5th in Walter Johnson voting when he went 15-6 3.10era 209ip 132k 1.30whip.

[4.16.27] – Dodgers 8, Mets 4 – Valdes (0-1) 2.2ip 7h 3er 3bb 1k gets hammered, imagine that.

[4.17.27] – Mets 10, Dodgers 7 – Smith (5,6) hits a pair of home runs and drives in five as the Mets get booed at home for the first time in a long time. After another starter, Gardner 3.2ip 3h 6r 2er 7bb 3k, implodes and the Mets 3-1 lead evaporates. The Dodgers score five in the top of the fourth on just two hits, four walks and an error. The Mets leave the field to a chorus of boos as the Dodgers lead 6-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, the Mets score four times, two more in the 6th and their 10th run in the seventh. Monje (1-0) picks up the win by striking out four in 1.1ip. Rushton (6) gets the save.
The Mets are 8-10 and tied for last in the NL East, 5 games behind the Braves.

[4.18.27] – Mets 2, Reds 0 – Big Day for Williamson – The 16-year Met, who made team history with his last victory (moving out of a tie with Tom Seaver for most wins ever by a Mets starter), made history again with his second win of the season. Williamson (2-1) 8ip 4h 0r 0bb 6k won the 200th game of his career, all in a Mets uniform. Hayes drives in both runs with singles in the second  and fourth. Rushton pitched his first perfect inning of the season by getting the Reds on just six pitches for his 7th save.
In his career, Williamson has fanned 2963 batters and walked 889 in 2923 innings. His lifetime win-loss record is 200 and 133 with a 3.72 era and opposing hitters have compiled a 238 average against him. He won the 2014 Walter Johnson Award, finished second in 2022, has two World Series rings, WS MVP honors, two strikeout titles (3 second place finishes), a 20-win season, an era title and has been an All-Star 6 times.
Zach Wheat got all the ladies

38-year old Andrew 'Mr Dodger' Lambo collected his 2500th hit. With the Dodgers since 2009, he was their starting left fielder for 15 years. Six time All-Star (2012,14,15,16,19,21) three gold gloves (2015,18,22), three WS rings, two batting tiles and a 313 lifetime batting average. Still popular nationally, but beloved in LA.
He is the Dodgers All-Time leader in games played, runs, doubles, walks and is second in hits and total bases, trailing Zack Wheat in both categories. Should be a HOFer.

Ralph Smith is awarded Player of the Week. He went 13-23, 2hr 5rbi. This is the 16th time Smith has been player of the Week in his career.

[4.19.27] – Reds 8, Mets 5 – Another meltdown by a starter, this time it's Fisher, 4ip 5h 4er 3bb 1k 1hr. The bullpen cannot save the Mets this time as Sheppard (1-1) 0ip 2h 3er 1bb 2hr allows home runs to 2 of the 3 batters he sees. Smith (7) and Brooks (4) hit homers for the Mets, who have yet to win consecutive games on the road.

[4.20.27] – Mets 9, Reds 2 – The Mets win their first road series and bring their road record up to 3-9. Short (3) hits a first inning grand slam, as the Mets put up five before the Reds ever get to bat. Fulton (2-1) takes it from there. He goes 7ip 8h 2er 2bb 7k for the win. The Mets don't allow a home run for the first time this season.
The Mets are 10-11 and are still 5 games behind the Braves, fourth in the NL East.

[4.21.27] – Padres 4, Mets 2 – Valdes (0-2) goes the distance, 9ip 10h 4r 2er 3bb 4k, but the Mets are unable to get anything more than a single off of Juan Bravo.

[4.22.27] – Mets 3, Padres 0 – Gardner (1-3) finally gets it together and throws a complete game shutout allowing seven hits, walking four and striking out seven. Hayes delivers the big blow again, a two run single in the bottom of the 7th to extend the lead to 3-0 and give Gardner some breathing room.
Ralph Smith plays in his 1500th consecutive game, it is the third longest streak in MLB history, trailing only Lou Gehrig and Cal Ripken. He is almost 4 years away from passing Gehrig.

Smith's streak began with his first day in the majors and has continued since. The 1500 consecutive games from the start of a career is a record, and has been for over six years when he passed Hideki Matsui, who held the old record at 518.
Matsui has a 1768 consecutive game streak -if you count Japan and MLB- which would be third all-time, if it counted.

Dennis Taylor hits for the cycle as a Cincinnati Red. The 10-year pro is on his third team and ends up being traded later in the season.

[4.23.27] – Mets 8, Padres 1 – Williamson (3-1) makes it three straight complete games as the Mets are up 7-0 before the Padres get their first base runner in the 5th, a walk. The Mets score three times in the first and four more in the fourth with Smith (8) hitting a 3-run shot in the latter.
The home run by Smith was his 2000th hit in 1501 games, all consecutive. It was the 441st home run of his career and he has a lifetime average of 346.
The Mets make it back to 500 (12-12) and trail the Braves by just three games, who were recently swept by the Giants.

[4.25.27] – Diamondbacks 5, Mets 1 – Fisher (1-3) gets his era under 10 with this stat line 6ip 6h 5er 4bb 3k 3hr and he is cold as hell. As is Scalfaro, whose average has slipped to 155 and is on a 0-19 streak. The All-Star catcher has just three hits in his last nine starts. Benes promises changes and sends Fisher to the pen and puts Marquez back in the rotation.

Also, new lineup with the struggling Scalfaro dropped to 7th, a position he hasn't batted in since his cup of coffee in 2014.

This is one of the great things about the sim, no media. I can drop a guy to 7th in the lineup and there's no story. No reaction story, no segment on PTI.
This allows me to ride a guy who's hot (in this case Caraballo was having a great start to the season) and stick a struggling guy deep in the order, Scalfaro, with no stupid questions from the media. It's obvious why a 10-time All Star is now hitting seventh, he blows right now. No manager in real life could ever say that, even though its the truth.
I don't have to deal with NY media and for that I am grateful, although I would be one of those loudmouth GMs. I know I would have been fined by now.

[4.26.27] – Mets 5, Diamondbacks 3 – Fulton (3-1) 8ip 6h 3er 1bb 8k, pitches well and Scalfaro hits just his third home run of the season in the fourth to give the Mets a 4-1 lead. Rushton (8) picks up the save.

[4.27.27] – Mets 9, Diamondbacks 2 – Marquez (2-0) pitches into the ninth, 8.1ip 6h 2er 1bb 11k 1hr, and hits a bases-clearing double in the Mets 8-run third inning. The Mets have a season best 16 hits and six starters get at least two each, including Scalfaro who had the Mets first four hit game of the season.
When asked about whether this meant Scalfaro would move back to his customary cleanup spot, Benes responded 'Ask me when he's above the Mendoza line.' Even with the four hits, his season average stands at 198.
The Mets get a game above 500 for the first time since they were 3-2, at 14-13 they sit in third place in the NL East three games behind the Phillies, who took over first from the Braves.

[4.28.27] – Mets 4, Pirates 0 – Gardner (2-3) throws 1-hit ball for 8 innings and Pruitt (3) drives in three runs. Gardner had 9 strikeouts and walked six, he had thrown 130 pitches when he was pinch hit for. Scalfaro did get a hit and is now at 202.

Pitch counts have gone up in the past 20 seasons. I want more complete games and I've been slowly increasing pitchers' stamina over the seasons, the next step is to return to the four-man rotation.
I want someone to win 30 games again. I want a game similar to the 20-30s, lots of triples, guys hitting 400, pitchers throwing 25 complete games, etc.

[4.29.27] – Mets 7, Pirates 4 – Williamson (4-1) 7ip 9h 4er 1bb 2k, allows two early runs, but keeps it close allowing the Mets to score seven times in the 6th & 7th innings. Smith (10) drives in four, Gomez and Pruitt each have three hits. Rushton pitches a perfect 9th for his ninth save. The four game winning streak and three games above 500 are season highs for the Mets.
After the game, Williamson signed a 1-year extension with the Mets for $2.31 million. It was definitely the hometown discount, but he has said all along that he wants to retire as a Met.

[4.30.27] – Mets 6, Pirates 3 – Spence (2-0) picks up the win in relief of Valdes who didn't make the 5th inning. Pruitt (4) hits a 2-run shot in the 4th to put the Mets up 5-2, they added another run that inning and didn't look back. Scalfaro went 0-5 and dropped back to 192.

The winning streak reaches 5 games and it's the first road sweep of the season, they are 6-9 on the road. The Mets (17-13) are 2 games behind the Braves and Phillies, who are tied for first.

Qian-gui Shuang went 6-6 with two home runs, a triple and three singles. He had 14 total bases. He scored four times and drove in six.
The 32yo Taiwanese first baseman is a 6-time All-Star has 2145h in 1709g. He's got 380hr and 1306rbi in his career and has led the AL the past three seasons, with a career high 158 in 2026. Six top 10 MVP finishes and a career average of 321. He is the Indians career leader in g, ab, r, h, tb, hr, rbi.
He was part of the Indians team that won the World Series in 2016 as a rookie, but his team hasn't gotten past the second round since, including first round exits in four of their last five trips to the playoffs.

Heading into May the Mets are trending in the right direction, the starting pitching has come back around. It was the hitting that gave the Mets a chance, although they are still leaving too many men on base. First in batting average and obp, yet 9th in runs scored.

Ralph Smith leads the offense and he was the Mets leader in hits, runs, home runs, rbis, total bases, average, on base and slugging in the month of April. Chris Short, John Brooks, Braeden Pruitt and Carlos Caraballo all hit over 328 for the month.

Those sucking so far this season, Montes Scalfaro is hitting 192 with just 6 extra base hits in the first month of the season. Anibal Gonzalez is also off to a slow start (hitting 179) and has started to see his playing time disappear to the other outfielders on the bench, Gene Hayes and Ramiro Gomez.

The starters have been bad with an ERA of 5.42 in the first part of the season, but the relievers helped them out with a 3.04 era in the month, third best in the NL.

Closer Payton Rushton has 10 saves with a 1.54 era in 11 games. Michael Dyer has allowed 1 run in 7.2 innings pitched and rookie Antonio Monje has allowed just 1 hit in 4.2 innings.

They ride a five game winning streak into a home series against the Monterrey Suns.
