Here are the final standings for the 2026 National League
Most of the teams should be familiar to everyone, but there have been some changes.
First, the London Kings and the Sao Paulo Samba shouldn't actually exist, yet. Those teams moved from their current home (Colorado and Florida, respectively) after this season, but I changed their names too early in the sim and it applied it to the past season. This explains why the London Kings are in the NL West.
The NL has added two teams in the sim era, both in 2020 when the Venezuela Lobos and the Monterrey Suns joined. They moved to the newly formed NL South and joined the Astros and the Marlins in the new division.
The AL on the other hand has been shaken up. Three teams moved, four were added through expansion, three changed their names and only the AL East still exists.
The city name changes, Chicaga White Sox, Gotham Yankees and Anaheim Angels, are purely to ease my record keeping.
When looking at a players stats, it lists the city of the team he played for, but not the league, so I had no way to know which Chicago or Los Angeles team he played for. Heading into the 2022 season I changed the home cities so now I could tell which team anyone played for.
The four teams the AL have added happened in two rounds. In 2018, the Toyko Bears joined the AL West and the Havana Revolution joined the AL Central. There were still only three divisions in each league, but now there were 16 teams in each league.
The AL Migration began in 2019, when the Oakland A's moved up the coast and over the border to become the Vancouver A's. This is the franchise's fourth move, each time moving further west. They began in Philadelphia, then moved to Kansas City, Oakland and now, Vancouver.
It is slightly further west according to wikipedia. San Francisco 37'47'N 122'25'W, Vancouver 49'15'N 123'6'W.
The Minnesota Twins also moved in 2019 when they became the first team south of the border and became the Mexico Aztecs. This is the franchises third move and become the first franchise to play in the capital of two countries (Washington & Mexico City).
Another team moves in 2020. The Kansas City Royals move to Seoul, South Korea and join the Tokyo Bears as the only two teams in the Far East.
Two more teams are added in 2020 to the American League. [A total of four teams were added to baseball in 2020, there are now 36 teams overall, 18 in each league.]
The Dominican Republic Stars and the Puerto Rico Eagle are the two expansion teams and the divisions undergo a huge change, a fourth is created and two others renamed.
I have plans to expand baseball to 40 teams in the next 4-6 seasons as well as move a team or two. Expect another team in the Far East and another in the EU, possibly two teams in each. There are also two franchises I'm looking at for relocation.
Even when I go to 40 teams I will keep it only 8 teams in each league make the playoffs.
