2027 New York Mets Roster

This is a list of every person who plays for the New York Mets in 2027. When I write I only use their last names (for the most part), since I know these guys well. For everyone else, here's a handy alphabetical list of the Mets roster, so you know who's who. After seeing the same names over and over, you'll get to know these guys. You can print it out if you want.

Bold names indicate starters, italics indicate the starting rotation and bullpen (over 45 innings). Everyone else is neither.

All but one pitcher came up through the Mets minor league system, not all of them were drafted by me, some I acquired in trades. I've always made it a point to have a well-stocked, home grown pitching staff in the sim and I've done well with that strategy. Nine straight top 3 finishes in team ERA in the NL dating back to 2018.
Having that many pitchers I do end up with back end rotation guys piling up in my minor league system. It's not strange to see someone make the majors after 2 or 3 full seasons in New Orleans. Those guys also make great trade bait and if I have a need at a position, it's easy to offer up a major league ready arm to get something in return.
Another benefit to so many arms is that they are also cheap. Most times I keep them for 5 or 6 years, then when free agency hits, I let them go elsewhere and save some money. I re-sign one or two of the best and keep them around for many seasons (Williamson and Fisher).
I've been very lucky with closers as well. Since 2012, I've used just two closers, both of them top 3 in the NL. The bullpen has been very strong, I have had 2 or 3 outstanding set up men for about a decade. Right now I would kill for another lefty in the bullpen; my only lefty is my closer, so I have no way to play situational ball late in games.

The hitters are split half and half, some have come up through my system, but I have my share of big free agent signings (Ralph Smith). I landed him back in 2023 off-season for $125 million over 5 years. This season will be four of five and I will try to sign him to an extension to keep him around for another 4-5 years.

Montes Scalfaro is the only homegrown superstar I've ever had. I have had a few guys make an All-Star team or two and a couple of young stars fizzle out after a few years, but so far, in 20 years, only one bonafide superstar and future Hall of Famer.
